Broadcast has always been my main focus throughout the past four years. While I spend most of my time working on The Season and giving a behind-the-scenes look on OHS sports, I also helped start a new broadcast called The Charger Update in 2023. While most of my work is done behind the scenes, I also spend some time in front of the camera reporting and anchoring. I have immense gratitude for the many opportunities that have been made available to me by editing, directing, and producing The Season and The Charger Update. Linked below are a few episodes that I had the opportunity to lead in production.
This episode is my one of my favorite episodes of "The Season: Oxford Football," and it follows the team as they play at Collierville. Not only was this game special, but I got the opportunity to interview legendary coach David Cutcliffe about his son's journey as head football coach for the Chargers.
The Charger Update is our monthly news broadcast show that reports on different things in our community and in our school. It's really fun being able to anchor and report for the show as it brings a new perspective for me in journalism.
While long-form videos take up most of my time, I also create weekly hype videos for our football team's social media. The main goal of making these videos is to get people excited for the game and try to get our students to support our student athletes and all their hard work. Below are three of my favorite hype videos I've created this year for our football team.
Beat Lafayette: The Oxford and Lafayette football game is a staple in the community for both Oxford and Lafayette. With that comes lots of passion for each respective school. Trying to capture that passion is difficult, but is always an exciting challenge.
Beat Tupelo: For years, the high schools of Oxford and Tupelo have had a growing hatred for each other. To showcase the already anticapted matchup, I released this video the night before the game. Like expected, the video just grew the excitement for the matchup.
Beat Germantown: The Chargers started the season hot, and to captivate on the excitment around the team, this video was published for our first home region game. For most hype videos, I mix multiple songs together. However for this one, I did not, making it one of my favorites from the season.
Anchoring and reporting wasn't something that I initially planned to do while in high school. However, when we started our newscast I decided to give it a try. At the time I didn't think I would enjoy being on camera and reporting, but I was soon corrected. Over time, I started to look for forward to being back on camera and giving the news for The Charger Update. Stepping out of my comfort zone and being on camera has helped me grow as a person so much. Because of reporting, I have become a better speaker and I am even more confident than before.
At the end of each year, I put together a video of all of my favorite shots from the year. I share these on my social media to help showcase my work. These also provides colleges and other businesses the chance to see my work. Below are my 2025 Ole Miss and Oxford cinematography reels.
Music Chairs + Seating: This video explains one of our favorite games to play at our pep rallies - musical chairs. We demonstrated the game while also exlpaning the rules given to us by our administrators. We also wanted to make sure the the students know where they need to sit in the gym so that each grade is all together.
Beads Game: To start the school year, we played a rock-paper-scissors bead game where students could play to collect as many beads as possible. Since most students were not fimiliar with the game, I created this video with our staff to give the student body an overview on the game. This ended up being a big hit with our students.
