About Me

My name is Anderson Shows, I am a junior at Oxford High School. I am the head director of the Charger Media Group, associate and sports editor for the Charger newspaper, and head director of Oxford High Sports Productions. I've been on the CMG staff for the past 3 years, beginning my freshman year as a staff writer. In 2022, I began to revive our sports productions department after a three year drought. The Oxford High Sports Productions team produces a sports documentary series - The Season - that showcases different athletic programs around OHS. Additionally, I am also a student worker at Ole Miss Sports Productions. I help create, edit, and film social media videos and also long form videos for many different athletic programs at the University. Along with journalism, I have also been on our student council for the past 3 years, the Go Green club, the Pickle ball club and a member of the OHS Cross Country team. While trying to balance all of my responsibilities can be challenging, I am so thankful for the roles I've been given and so excited to continue to work hard to produce my best work.

Here, me and other newspaper editors smiles with our September edition of the newspaper. At the end of every month when the paper arrives, we get to leave campus and distribute the paper around Oxford. Distributing is one of our staff's favorite things we do and is the highlight of every month in the OHS news room.

These pictures shows a little behind the scenes of the editing process for The Season. This football season gave me many days of non stop work and editing to prepare for that week. While sometimes everything can get a little stressful, it is important to me to stay on top of everything I need to do while still producing everything at the highest level that is expected.

This picture showcases one of my favorite games from this football season. Hurricane Helene was heading right for Oxford, MS, but that didn't stop the Chargers from playing their rivalry game against the Starkville Yellowjackets. Although we were unable to come out of the game with a victory, it truly was an unforgettable experience for me and my staff.

I really love this picture because I think it really showcases me on a Friday night. All of my friends mess with me because they think it's so funny that I get stand up and run off when I need to get to the next spot.
