It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED for students to be concurrently enrolled in a choral or instrumental music course.
Students also should enter this course with the ability to read and write musical notation, as well as with basic vocal or instrumental performance skills.

This class offers students of all grades a space to not only study music, but to break down and understand the theory that makes it tick. It follows the AP (Advanced Placement) course curriculum and seeks to prepare students for the official exam in May.

Students will learn to identify many musical features including pitch, chords, rhythms; to sing notated melodies on sight; to write music based on cues in the common practice style; and many more. Equivalent to a college introductory course, this class is perfect for anyone seeking to understand the structure, composition, and complexities of music.
