Jazz Band
The Oak Park High School Jazz Band meets during Zero Period (at 7:20 am) 4 mornings every week. In Jazz Band, you will play in one of the two Jazz Bands - A or B - where placement is determined by audition (don't worry, you will be in one of them!). Every school year you remain in Jazz Band beyond your first year earns you Honors credit towards your weighted GPA and for the UC and CSU systems. Instrumentation is modeled after the classic swing bands of the 1920's and 30's, including saxophones, clarinets, trumpets, trombones, piano, drum set, guitar and bass guitar, both upright and electric, but the music we play spans all of the sub-genres of jazz. All instrumentalists are welcome to join Jazz Band; it is not limited strictly to those instruments listed above. During course requests, select Jazz Band (CP) when you make your course selections!**
