OLM Kicks Off the Year with Renewed Sustainability Push 

OLM has begun the new School year with a series of green initiatives aimed at deepening the School's commitment to sustainability. 

The School's partnership with HUBIS is back in full force, bringing a clear set of sustainability goals for the year ahead. The next area of focus will be the kitchen, where new initiatives are being introduced to reduce food waste, alongside ongoing studies exploring how to make School meals more environmentally friendly. 

The Green Club in Action 

Student Pillar Sanches (10th Grade B)shared an inside look at the work of the Green Club, led by Mr. Lucas Amaral, highlighting the group's efforts to embed sustainability into everyday life at OLM. 

“The Green Club has been working hard to make sustainability a bigger part of everyday life at OLM! This year, we have been taking several new initiatives to encourage our community to make more environmentally responsible choices. We started making morning announcements during the school's morning prayer, sharing tips and information about sustainability with the entire OLM community.” (...)

“The Green Club has also benefited from the participation of our many volunteers, who continue to bring new ideas, propose projects, and help turn our sustainability goals into action. Students from OLM are also participating in an international environmental competition, providing an opportunity for our school community to engage in environmental initiatives and raise awareness about sustainability. Looking ahead, there will be a bottle-cap collection competition, in which the collected bottle caps will contribute to the production of wheelchairs. We have also successfully concluded the gathering of the liner paper from the World Cup stickers, another initiative that brought our community together around a sustainable cause. With so many projects already underway (and many more ideas to come), the Green Club continues to grow and inspire positive change at OLM.”

Rounding out this month's green news, OLM is proud to share its new Sustainability Video, offering guidance on proper waste disposal and other key aspects of the school's green culture.

OLM inicia o ano com força renovada em sustentabilidade

A OLM começou o novo ano letivo com uma série de iniciativas verdes voltadas para aprofundar o compromisso da Escola com a sustentabilidade.

A parceria da Escola com a HUBIS está de volta a todo vapor, trazendo metas claras de sustentabilidade para o ano que se inicia. O próximo foco de atuação será a cozinha, onde novas iniciativas estão sendo implementadas para reduzir o desperdício de alimentos, além de estudos em andamento para tornar as refeições da Escola mais sustentáveis.

O Green Club em ação

A aluna Pillar Sanches (10th Grade B) compartilhou um panorama do trabalho do Green Club, liderado pelo professor Lucas Amaral, destacando os esforços do grupo para tornar a sustentabilidade parte do dia a dia na OLM.

"O Green Club tem trabalhado bastante para tornar a sustentabilidade uma parte maior do cotidiano na OLM! Este ano, tivemos várias novas iniciativas para incentivar nossa comunidade a fazer escolhas mais responsáveis em relação ao meio ambiente. Começamos com os avisos pela manhã após a oração matinal, compartilhando dicas e informações sobre sustentabilidade com toda a comunidade OLM." (...)

"O Green Club também tem se beneficiado da participação de nossos muitos voluntários, que continuam trazendo novas ideias, propondo projetos e ajudando a transformar nossas metas de sustentabilidade em ação. Alunos da OLM também estão participando de uma competição ambiental internacional, o que representa uma oportunidade para nossa comunidade escolar se engajar em iniciativas ambientais e se conscientizar sobre sustentabilidade. No futuro, teremos uma competição de coleta de tampinhas, cujo material arrecadado contribuirá para a produção de cadeiras de rodas. Também concluímos com sucesso a coleta do papel liner dos figurinhas da Copa do Mundo, mais uma iniciativa que uniu nossa comunidade em torno de uma causa sustentável. Com tantos projetos já em andamento (e muitas outras ideias por vir), o Green Club continua crescendo e inspirando mudanças positivas na OLM.
