Classen is proud to announce the recent selection of a Classen student for the honor of the highly coveted Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship. This is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to students in their final year of high school. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. Only 1,514 Semifinalists were chosen among 103,800+ applicants this year because of their outstanding leadership, academic achievements, and dedication to their community.

Summer of 2023
One of our very own bright students was selected for the prestigious Student Enhancement in Earth and Space Science (SEES) summer internship that was held at the University of Texas at Austin’s Center for Space Research in partnership with NASA. Almost 2,000 applications were received for the coveted 95 on-site internship positions. Students worked with scientists and engineers to conduct authentic research from data received from NASA’s earth observing satellites as well as designing Mars Habitats, Lunar Exploration, and analysis of images from the International Space Station. This nationally competitive program, funded by NASA, selects students who will increase their knowledge of science, technology, engineering, and math through earth and space education.

We are excited to announce the recent selection of a Classen student to the prestigious United States Senate Youth Program.   Only two students from each state are selected and will serve as delegates to the Senate in Washington D.C.  The honor also comes with a scholarship to the university of choice.

Visual & Performing Arts

Classen School of Advanced Studies High School is nationally recognized for its Visual and Performing Arts Program.  Students can focus in one of eight arts areas: Visual Arts, Orchestra, Drama, Piano, Guitar, Dance, Vocal Music, or Band.  Each area of study has pathway requirements for graduation that ensure students excel in their chosen major.  All eight areas have received top honor and local and national competitions.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme

The Diploma Programme (DP) is a curriculum framework designed by the International Baccalaureate (IB) for students in the last two years of high school.

IB students graduating with the IB diploma are able to study at universities all around the world, often with advanced credit. Students report that their involvement with the IB has given them the tools needed to succeed at college. In particular, students comment on their sense of preparedness, self-confidence, research skills and their ability to manage their time. Even more important, they have developed a sense of the world around them and their responsibility to it.

International Baccalaureate Middle School Years Programme

The Classen Experience

The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (MYP) is designed specifically to serve as part of the International Baccalaureate (IB) continuum and to prepare students for the two-year IB Diploma Program. We believe the addition of additional IB coordination resources, implementation of a collaborative framework, and the IB MYP Program in 6th-10th grades at Classen SAS Middle School and Classen SAS High School at Northeast provides vertically-articulated curriculum aligned to IB Diploma Program standards while increasing the use of cross-curricular strategies that focus on improving student's cognitive, affective, and metacognitive skills (ATL in line with IBDP Theory of Knowledge curriculum). Additionally, MYP increases the percentage of students who complete the IB Diploma Program requirements.
