Conflict occurs when people have different needs, goals, expectations, or values. Conflict itself is not a bad thing. In fact, when handled well, conflict can lead to better understanding, stronger teamwork, and improved decisions.
Problems arise when conflict is:
Avoided
Handled emotionally
Communicated poorly
Escalated instead of addressed
Understanding conflict is the first step toward resolving it effectively.
People pointing an an upset person.
Miscommunication or unclear expectations
Stress, time pressure, or workload
Differences in values, priorities, or experiences
Perceived unfairness
Safety or quality concerns

Think about a conflict you have seen or experienced (at school, work, or in a group).
Things to consider:
What caused the conflict?
Were different needs or expectations involved?
