We will also be recognizing Driver Appreciation Day on Wednesday, October 22nd. We want to thank all our St. Luke Nepean Drivers for all they do to get our students to and from school safely.

OCSB Communique Regarding Halloween
With Halloween just around the corner, the countdown is on for parents to find the perfect Halloween costume for their children. As tempting as it may be to dress our kids in pretty much anything they want to be, it is important to consider a more thoughtful approach about whether the costume is culturally sensitive and appropriate. According to the Cambridge Dictionary, cultural appropriation is, “the act of taking or using things from a culture that is not your own, especially without showing that you understand or respect the culture.” Halloween is a fun event and with some creativity and imagination, parents can help their child(ren) with deciding on a costume that aligns with a culturally sensitive Halloween. Being proactive can help all of us to avoid uncomfortable situations at school and in our community and can help us ensure that Halloween is a fun event where all students feel safe and honoured
EXTENDED DEADLINE For Grades 3-6: Ottawa 67's School Game Day
On Wednesday, November 12th, all grade 3-6 students will attend the Ottawa 67s game against the Kingston Frontenacs at the Canadian Tire Centre. The cost for each student to attend the game is $26. Any parent who wishes to attend the game as well may do so at a cost of $26 for each adult. All payments can be made at https://ocsb.schoolcashonline.com. Parents who join us for the game will chaperon a small group of students, and they must accompany students on the bus, both to and from the arena. Students, teachers and parents will leave shortly after morning announcements, at approximately 9:30 am, to prepare for the 10:30 am puck drop. Students will return to school immediately after the game via buses in the early afternoon. All students are encouraged to bring their lunch and snacks to the arena.
Permission forms, which were sent home this week, must be returned to school no later than Sunday October 19th. Also, please fully complete both sides of the Board’s Parent/Guardian Permission Form and return it to your child’s homeroom teacher. Unfortunately, we cannot adjust numbers after our October 14th deadline.
All parent volunteers must be on the school's Volunteer List. Please see this link for information on how to apply to volunteer for any school within the OCSB. When applying, please specify that you want to volunteer with St. Luke(Nepean). We will require several parent volunteers to help make the day run smoothly. If you have questions not answered by the link, please email volunteers@ocsb.ca.
