Fire Drills and Lockdown Practices
This past week we had a very successful fire drill practice! We have 3 fire drill practices in the fall and 3 in the spring. We will also have 2 lockdown practices during the school year.
Appropriate Dress at St Luke Nepean
Each child requires a pair of non-marking athletic shoes to be worn inside and left at school. Appropriate footwear is a shoe designed for athletic activities with a sole that provides traction and is secured to the foot. CROCS are not appropriate footwear for inside the school nor do they follow OPHEA guidelines when students are participating in physical education or participating in our intramural sports. To help facilitate the return of lost items to students, all clothing should be labelled.
Wearing clothing with culturally insensitive messages or images is not in keeping with our Catholic values or promoting a safe, caring and inclusive school community. All students are encouraged to wear respectful clothing at all times when on school property or on a school related activity.
St. Luke Catholic School is honoured and excited to support the 2025 Terry Fox School Run! We are proud of the amazing tradition at our school. This year marks the 45th Anniversary of the Marathon of Hope. Our goal for this year’s run is to raise funds for cancer research while starting the school year with a great event that celebrates our school spirit and our students.
Thanks to thousands of schools like ours,The Terry Fox Foundation funds a variety of different cancer research projects such as: lung, breast, ovarian, pediatric, prostate, brain and blood.
This year St. Luke is going to join the ‘Dear Terry Challenge’! If we raise $500.00, Mrs. Meyers and Mrs. Wallace have agreed to dress up in surprise costumes for a whole day!!! Please support our students’ fundraising efforts and donate today.
Donations may be made in one of 2 ways
The online link to the Terry Fox Fundraiser, which will also be posted on our school website, is https://schools.terryfox.ca/StLukeCSNepean. It is quick and easy and donors receive a receipt immediately.
“Toonies for Terry” - a donation of a toonie ($2) may be brought from home and donated by the student. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to be actively involved in donating. Thank you!! Merci!!
The Terry Fox event for this year is on Friday September 26th. Our plan for the event day is to run as a whole school in the backyard from 1:15 - 2:15pm. Families, parents, grandparents are invited and welcome to join us. Grades 1, 2, 3 will walk around the primary grass yard and Grades 4, 5, 6 (with Kinders) will walk around the Junior soccer yard.
Let’s make this 45th Anniversary of the Marathon of Hope a special event and keep Terry’s dream alive! Please help us to reach our goal! Who will you be running for?
Regards,
The Terry Fox Committee
