Upon completion of this chapter students will:
understand and use research skills and critical- and creative-thinking skills
identify and explore the sources of an entrepreneurial idea
compare invention and innovation
describe how to obtain patent, copyright, and/or trademark protection
identify and apply each stage in the creative problem-solving process
analyze the creative-thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making processes that help entrepreneurs find opportunities to create new ventures
demonstrate ways in which different creative-thinking techniques (e.g., brainstorming, mind mapping) can be applied to generate new ideas
identify significant Canadian inventions and innovations, and summarize the impact that these have had on people's lives
