The math department believes a calculator is a valuable tool for the math classroom. While not only aiding students in computation, it can support and further student learning of new concepts. The use of a calculator also supports the Common Core Standards for Mathematical Practices: #5 Use appropriate tools strategically and #6 attend to precision. For these reasons, students are expected to have access to a calculator.

*This calculator is the one teachers will use in class for all lessons. Families can choose to buy a different model/brand with the understanding that students will be responsible for learning how to use their calculator.
Each teacher has a classroom set of TI-84 graphing calculators for student use. Because of cost, classroom calculators are not allowed to leave the classroom. Students may be asked to donate 4-AAA batteries to use the classroom calculators.
