The high school math department believes students should deeply learn math content and should not be rushed through material. In certain circumstances students may show a deep understanding of the material and may be ready to move forward at a different pace than the traditional grade-level pace. In these cases, acceleration opportunities are available to students.
Students who are not on pace to take calculus during their senior year would take Geometry and Algebra 2 at the same time during sophomore year. This is the math department's recommendation because of the sequencing of course content throughout all high school courses.
