Seeing as the holiday season is nearly upon us, it is time to think about giving back to our community. There are many Ottawa children that are left without gifts to open on Christmas Day. Luckily with the help of the Salvation Army, CTV News and Majic 100, over 20 000 toys are donated to children every year for the holidays. But these organizations can’t do it alone. They need help from people like you who can donate toys and other gifts for those who need it. The holiday season is the time for giving and after a complicated year, parents need help now more than ever to ensure that their children have a joyful holiday.
Donations can be dropped off at a variety of different locations across the capital. Click here for the full list of locations.
Donations should be unwrapped, new toys for boys and girls ages 0-12. If you are planning on donating, then consider donating toys for ages 0-2 and 11-12 since there are usually fewer donations for these age groups. If you do not have the time to buy gifts or you would prefer to stay safer at home, there is an option to donate money online that will be used to purchase gifts.
The final day of donation collection is Friday, December 18, so please do not wait to make a difference. Hundreds of children will be forever grateful to have a present to open on Christmas. If you are unsure of what to buy, have a look at the lists of toys below suggested by student elves in the OCV News team.
