Students in Ms. Russell's NBE3U Contemporary First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Voices class have been working with community partners to build better relationships for reconciliation.
Student Ayman A. created a podcast about Ottawa-based Indigenous hoop dancer, Theland Kicknosway. Here is Ayman's introduction to the podcast:
In this episode I will talk about Theland Kicknosway's activism and advocacy for mutual respect with Indigenous people. We will be focusing on Theland's exemplary creativity as a performer in dance and singing as well as his work as a changemaker for educating youth and all Canadians as an activist. He is bringing traditional Indigenous arts, and knowledge back and contributing to the resurgence of Indigeneity from the forgotten well of colonization. He is a major inspiration for Indigenous youth across Canada.
