Congratulations on your admission into the NYU SPS Schack Institute of Real Estate! As you prepare to join us, we wanted to notify you of our accelerated degree completion option, which enables students to complete the MS in Real Estate in three semesters (one year). To be eligible for this track, you must complete the mandatory assessment exam as soon as possible and no later than May 10th for Summer admits and August 10th for Fall 2025 admits.
Please read the following email carefully. You will find a link to sign up for the NYU Schack Entry Skills Assessment below.
While the standard course load at NYU Schack is no more than four (4) courses per semester, the Institute seeks to offer flexible degree options, including an accelerated graduation track. This accelerated track allows graduation in one year by permitting students to enroll in five courses per semester.
To help set students up for success, the accelerated track is test-in only. If you wish to enroll in more than four courses a semester, you must take the Entry Skills Assessment. The intent of this assessment is to gauge your preparation for core course content and likelihood to successfully manage the rigors of additional course load.
The assessment covers topics generally fundamental to proficiency in real estate finance and investment, such as discounted cash flow analysis, mortgage math, and basic lease analysis; additionally, it covers a handful of GMAT-style quantitative skills questions focused in areas such as algebra and statistics. It is a combination of multiple-choice and calculation questions.
After taking the exam, you will be notified as to whether you may enroll in more than four courses a semester on a rolling basis.
The Skills Assessment will be offered virtually during multiple windows this summer. It is 60 minutes in duration. Students can only take the test one time before they start their first semester. Testing dates:
Fall 2025
June 5th to 10th
July 5th to 10th
August 5th to 10th
