DCLT Virtual Forum:
Social Emotional Learning in Teaching
How can social-emotional learning help our teachers and students cope with the changes and stress brought by COVID-19? Project DCLT in collaboration with Confucius Institute at China Institute and the NYS Statewide Language Regional Bilingual Education Resource Network (RBE-RN) at NYU hosted a two-part social emotional learning in teaching workshop where speaker Nancy King Wang guided the participants through the framework of social-emotional learning while relating to the ongoing new reality.

Back to school Tookit for social emotional learning in all environments
The goal for this toolkit is to help teachers create a flexible, data-driven plan for supporting students’ academic and social-emotional behavior (SEB) needs into the summer and throughout the 2020-21 school year—whether in a remote, onsite, or blended environment. As you navigate this time of uncertainty, the toolkit recommend that you leverage and lean on two high-impact structures—a comprehensive assessment system and a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS)—which can support teachers in any environment. This toolkit also links to extensive comprehensive assessment and MTSS resources to unpack those structures further.
