By the end of this unit, students will be able to:
Aurally identify examples of tritone substitutions, augmented dominants, and diatonic sequences in examples from the repertoire and transcribe short examples that include these harmonies.
Sight-sing and improvise melodies that include the harmonies outlined above.
Sight-read rhythms in compound meters that use beat notes other than dotted quarter notes (e.g. 6/4, 9/16).
