Unit Objectives

By the end of this unit, students will be able to: 

• Aurally identify modulations to other keys, state the key to which the music modulates, describe strategies for identifying modulations, and demonstrate further proficiency in recognizing examples of modulation in the repertoire.

• Transcribe song selections that modulate abruptly or use a pivot chord modulation. 

• Sight sing, improvise, and transcribe melodies that modulate to closely-related keys. 

• Sight-read, improvise, and transcribe rhythms with 16th note rests and ties in compound time.
