Honors/Advanced Placement Courses

Honors and Advanced Placement (AP) level courses are more rigorous than College Prep and College Prep Enriched.

Access to certain Honors and AP courses are through teacher recommendation and based achievement and mindsets in previous courses.

These recommendations are based on demonstrated ability as evidenced by course evaluations, grades and standardized test results. Students in Honors an AP courses are expected to learn more independently with deeper understanding and application - at a faster pace.

In order to be invited into certain Honors and AP course, a current Honors student must, at the time of recommendations, achieve and maintain at least a C+ grade in the current course and have the recommendation of the teacher.

Qualified students without a recommendation may have access to Honors and AP courses through an Earn In (see Earn In Process).

In addition, a number of both  AP and Honors courses are available by student choice and do not require a teacher recommendation or Earn In. See Program of Studies for more details.
