Monochrome Photography

This assignment was very fun because it was really interesting to play with the color, light, and tones of a photo. A photo that is straight, with a focal point and nice balance is a good photo however, if you edit the photo, you can make it great. This assignment helped me realize that monochrome can bring certain pictures to life.

This photo originally was very good. It had a lot of variety and different elements that balanced out. When I made it black and white, the photo became a lot richer and was a lot more texturized. I like how the different tones of the photo contrasted and created a different mood from the first photo. I like how the circular lights had a lot more detail than before and how the lines were a lot more defined.

I really like how this photo turned out because the photo at the beginning was very bright and kind of distracted you. In the edited photo, all of the shadows and tones were really brought out. I like how the different shades of gray have a sense of unity. The different shapes and patterns in the photo were really accentuated after editing it.

This photo at the beginning was very good to begin with because my dog (Appa) was looking away from the camera and fell on the leftmost vertical line. However, when I edited the photo, Appa became a lot more defined. His wrinkles were a lot more prominent and the photo was sharpened a lot.
