Informal Portraiture

This assignment was a lot more difficult than I expected. I thought that I was just going to have to take photos of someone and upload it. However, there's a lot more to portraiture than just taking a photo of someone. You have to make sure the photo isn't flat or that there isn't any negative space. You have to make sure that your photos have variety.

I like this photo a lot because my friend Tim looks super happy. I like how his black leather jacket contrasts with the wall and the tree and adds variety to the shot. Tim's head is slightly off center and is the focal point of the photo and has emphasis. It also has balance because the negative space behind Tim is broken up by the tree.

This photo of Tim is one of my favorites because the black and orange are a cool color scheme. They contrast well but they also have a sense of unity. I also like this photo because instead of his head being straight, he had it a little tilted which emphasized it. The lines on the wall created a pattern which added variety to the background.

This photo is my favorite out of all of the other ones because instead of having Tim just stand there, he changed it up by putting his hand up. It adds a lot more to the photo and is different from the others. I also like it a lot because the tree adds a third element to the photo and creates variety.
