Throughout my whole life, I have been very passionate about ice hockey. I have been playing this game since I was 4 years old and have continued playing through this year, my senior year of high school. If school did not have any subjects and the only criterion was learning, I would study not only hockey, but specifically hockey goalie's. I have been a goalie throughout my life, and I have always loved the position, it was fast, and technical. Not only am I interested in the position, but also the gear.
I have always been interested in how goalies had full control over how their gear looked, they were the only position on the ice that had control over how they looked. They could customize their pads, helmet, skates, and so much more. Not only are goalie's able to customize their setup through colors, but they can also customize their gear to fit their personal play style, and even to give them a competitive edge. Goalie's of different play styles can pick a faster gliding pad, or a slower gliding pad, a pad with fast rebounds, or a pad with soft rebounds, and much more. They can pick gloves with different angle breaks (580, 590, 600), and even a specific type of cage for their helmet, that makes them see the puck more clearly.
Joey Daccord Seattle Kraken 2021 https://charlottecheckers.com/articles/transactions/seattle-returns-joey-daccord-to-charlotte
This picture above is a current NHL (National Hockey League) goalie, Joey Daccord. As most people can usually point out, Joey has customized pads with his teams colors, and his helmet is customized with his team colors, but I look at him with more detail. I see that he has a "cateye" cage, which gives him a better opportunity to see the puck. I see that he has custom TRUE TF9 skates on, which are fully customized to give him a lower attack angle in his stance. Although I notice little details, I am interested in studying how this equipment is made, and what really makes it so special- the materials, the design, and more.
