In my opinion it is always good to learn about the importance of failure. Failure is something that everyone deals with differently. Throughout my school career and life in general I have learned that without failure, we would not know what it would take to succeed. This unit had taught me more about handling and failure and what to do when you have realized you failed.
The biggest thing I look away was you need to have a growth mindset. I growth mindset is when you are not fixed on one thing, but multiple things and when you fail you look to see how you can improve rather than beating yourself up and quitting. The video we watched is a great example of how a teacher/ classmates can help you have a growth mindset. In the video we saw a group of students and a teacher offer another student some ways to improve upon his drawing of a butterfly. The first drawing was rough and did not look like the image it was supposed to be. Instead of the students and teacher bashing this child for not having the perfect drawing they offered him feedback and the opportunity to revise and get it right. After multiple tries the student made a great picture of a butterfly with the help of his parents. It helps when teachers know that perfection dosen't come easy and they are willing to help you learn.
The importance of failure and having a growth mindset go hand in hand when trying to expand upon knowledge, learning and just life in general. If you quit every time you failed at something you would get no where and always be stuck. Its not about how you start its about how you finish, so when you fail, try again and embrace the challenge. It will all be worth it in the future and you will be glad you didn't quit.
