Make a copy of the spreadsheet below to automatically calculate your GPA without all the trouble. (CALCULATOR UPDATED 11/15/24. IT DOES NOT NEED TO DIVIDE BY 25. YOU DO NOT NEED TO CHANGE ANYTHING. THE UPDATE HAS TAKEN EFFECT.)
Your grades will not be made visible or public to anybody. Entering your grades into the Google Sheet does not give anyone access to your grades or GPA. All calculations are unofficial, and T-Cork is not responsible for errors. If you have a question or spot an error, contact T-Cork.
Your GPA can be calculated many different ways. The formula and explanation below is for the weighted GPA that shows up on your report card at the end of the quarter. It should be noted that any calculations are unofficial. To find your unweighted GPA, simply take the grade values (decimals included) and average them together. Then take that number and divide by 25. (If you have a 100 in every class, you get a 4.0 GPA).
First you need to find out which classes count toward GPA calculation. Classes like your Math, Science, and English count toward GPA, while Gym, Health, and musical electives do not. There is a complete list here of which classes count. You should have about 5 classes that count toward your GPA. (Math, Science, English, History, Electives).
Once you know which classes count toward GPA, you need to know what the weight of each class is. First, your grades must be rounded to the nearest whole number. Then, take the rounded number and multiply by 1.06 for an accelerated class, 1.02 for an academic class, and 1 for a general class. (Multiplying by 1 means the number doesn't change.) Here is a list of weightings.
Once you know the GPA value for each class, add them up and divide the sum by the number of classes you have. That is your GPA. You can divide by 25 to get the number that most people are familiar with (2.8-4.0 range). The District does not divide by 25, so as of 11/15/24, my GPA calculator doesn't either.
