Updated: 5:30 PM 10/16/24

Event: 10/16/24 4:00 AM - 10/17/24 9:00 AM

Rundown:

It's that time again. Temps have dropped from highs in the 80's as we got used to over the summer as we do every year. Then, all of a sudden, leaves started to change color and now all of a sudden it's long sleeves o'clock again. Now to the brief. Most of NPSD will see temperatures in the lower 30's. Some below freezing for a few hours. Now, we all know it's cold. I'm just saying be ready for the 25 degree wind chill tomorrow morning as you walk into school.

NWS Alerts & Forecast Info:

This is where the updates are. NWS Bingamton had previously issued a Freeze Watch from 2-9 AM for Thursday Morning for Lackawanna County (That's where we live). As predicted, it has now been upgraded to a Freeze Warning for the same time frame. The text of the warning tells us that temps can get as low as 30 degrees. NWS details the following impacts: Frost will damage vegetation and unprotected outdoor plumbing. What you can do: Wear a coat, take plants inside. That's it. As for the forecast numbers, they will automatically update on our weather page. As for the time of updating, forecasts call for widespread frost between 1 am 10 am Thursday morning. Wind in the teens (mph) will make the cold feel a lot worse. Wind chills are expected to be as low as 24 degrees!!! We will see much worse throughout the winter, but for mid-October that is worth 3 exclamation points.

Schedule Impact:

T-Cork's snow day chances show the following for THURSDAY 10/17...

Basically, there will be no impact to the schedule. It'll just be cold.
