The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald details the experience of Nick Carraway, who has just moved into an affluent area. He meets Jay Gatsby and helps him get with Daisy Buchanan even though she is married to Tom Buchanan. Throughout the novel, it conveys the conflict with the rich constantly partying and the obsession of desiring more in life. This eventually led to the death of Jay Gatsby.
The Great Gatsby's closing reading for chapter two is an artifact that I chose to demonstrate my close reading analysis skills after almost finishing a year of IB. I was able to explicate an understanding of the characters in chapter two and use the passage to accurately respond to the analysis questions.
This is one of the two parts of my final project for The Great Gatsby; I could correlate prohibition and anti-drugs and alcohol to the novel conveying a deeper understanding of the text where I could connect an actual event of the world to the storyline of a book. I chose this artifact to demonstrate the final assignment of my first year in IB; it conveys how much growth I experienced when I could connect two different things and do a project.
I had the opportunity to see The Great Gatsby movie and read the novel; after seeing the two, I compared and contrasted s, from how the characters acted to the different scenarios. The reason why I chose this artifact was to demonstrate my analysis in a separate assignment where I was able to go into deep detail about certain aspects of the movie and book, conveying and outside skill of analyzing.
