Frankenstein by Mary Shelly details the story of Victor Frankenstein, who gave life to a creature, although a hideous one; the scientist rejects his creation and seeks out vengeance due to the deprivation that has caused him from creating it. The novel conveys the character's perspectives and deals with the themes of love, nature, the human condition, and horror.
The summer of junior year, going into IB, we were assigned to submit an essay comparing and contrasting two texts we read over the summer. Frankenstein was implemented to demonstrate the role of women in these two works of literature. I chose this writing as an artifact because it conveys my understanding of these two works of literature, and since it was my very first IB English paper, it displays growth as a writer.
The Tea with Monster Skit is an artifact of writing relating to Frankenstein that demonstrates how the literature of a novel can be converted into a play that can intertwine conflict with out-loud performances. I chose this particular artifact because it conveys the ability to work with other students on performing a task outside students' comfort zone.
During the summer of junior year, students were assigned to annotate Frankenstein by Mary Shelley; going into IB annotation of a large book was outside the student's comfort zone. I broke down annotation into five sections and wrote around the book, something entirely new to me. I chose this artifact because it conveys my first-ever annotation of a book, conveying my analytical side of writing. This annotation of Frankenstein would be the footprint of many later annotations.
