Our Forest School Site

We are very lucky at Northlands Wood to have suitable outdoor space to incorporate our Forest School programme.

The fire circle is pivotal to everything that happens at Forest School.  It is the main focal point for discussing and reflecting on the days activities, as well as being the central hub for the children and adults to socialise.

Not forgetting, of course, that this is also where we gather to eat the delicious food that we cook on the fire using produce from our school vegetable garden!

Our Outdoor Learning Area accommodates all of the equipment to run our Forest School sessions as well as being a covered area where the children can sit to shelter from rain or sun.

The school field offers lots of space for den-building and adventure games.

Our pond has many different species of flora and fauna at different times throughout the year.

During the year, we will also visit local woodlands, including our new site at Turvey Woods, where the children are encouraged to explore the woodlands throughout the seasons.  They climb trees, paddle in seasonal streams, enjoy woodland games and use natural materials in their play.  There are toileting and hand washing facilities on site.
