Year 9 Mathematics is our introductory course, that exposes students to a wide range of different numerical, algebraic, geometrical and statistical skills. This will not only prepare students for senior level Mathematics, but also give them a solid grounding in everyday numeracy.
This course is set up in a "weeks" system, where each week of the year there is a particular topic that each teacher is expected to cover with their class. This is illustrated in the planner below.
Each week has "Must Know" content that every student is expected to learn. Alongside this is "Extension" material for each week too, for any student wanting to push themselves further in Maths. There is also set homework each weekend, which will be provided for students in a booklet each term. A digital copy of the booklets can also be found at the bottom of this page.
You can find videos, notes and practice worksheets for each week by clicking the following Term Home Pages:
For further support in Year 9 Mathematics, students and parents are invited to our Year 9 Maths evenings. Regular information will be sent out to parents via email, but feel free to contact Mr. Davis (dvs@northcote.school.nz) if you have any questions.
The Maths Parent Evenings run on Mondays 5:30pm-6:30pm, and will be offered in an online format.
You can click on the dates below, after each session, to see the PowerPoint and notes used for that particular session.
