This page recaps some of the crucial number skills from Years 9 and 10, particularly fractions, decimals and percentages. It is a good idea to visit this page often to make sure your numeracy is up to scratch!
These videos show you how the order of operations work. When faced with a problem that has more than one operation in it (say 3 + 5 x 2) you need to know what to work out first.
Most importantly: always work through the high priority (like brackets) operations before low priority operations (like addition). If they are the same priority then work from left to right.
Once you have finished the video, complete the following worksheet OR these textbook exercises:
Green Gamma - pages 6-8 exercise 1.04
Make sure you mark your work from the back of the book and correct any errors before progressing to the next skill!
This video introduces fractions, decimals and percentages. They are all different ways of writing the same number. Once you have finished the video, complete the digital worksheet and then try these textbook exercises:
Green Gamma - pages 28 - 33 exercises 3.01 and 3.02
Make sure you mark your work from the back of the book and correct any errors before progressing to the next skill!
This video shows how to work out how much an amount has changed by, as a percent. Using the formula:
(New - Original) ÷ Original x 100

This video explains how to solve problems like:
What is the price of a new t-shirt if the price tag says $80 and it is 20% off? Calculate that 20% of $80 is $16, then take $16 off $80 to get $64.
Once you have finished that, click the links to go to a practice worksheet on each skill, then complete these textbook exercises:
Green Gamma - pages 34 - 36 exercise 3.03
Make sure you mark your work from the back of the book and correct any errors before progressing to the next skill!
This video explains how to calculate the original amount after something has been changed by a percentage. For example:
The school roll has increased by 15% since last year. It is currently 1200 people. What was the roll last year?
Once you have finished that, complete these textbook exercises:
Green Gamma - pages 34 - 36 exercise 3.03
Make sure you mark your work from the back of the book and correct any errors before progressing to the next skill!
Once you have a handle on the individual skills above, work through these mixed problems:
Green Gamma - pages 37 - 38 exercise 3.04
Make sure you mark your work from the back of the book and correct any errors before progressing to the next skill!
