Year 12

Year 12 Mathematics builds on foundational skills developed in earlier years and provides students with an in-depth understanding of algebraic, graphical, statistical, and calculus concepts. This course aims to deepen students' mathematical thinking and problem-solving abilities, equipping them for success in NCEA Level 2 and laying the groundwork for further studies in mathematics and related fields.

The course follows a structured approach, organised into modules where each period focuses on a specific topic to ensure comprehensive coverage and student mastery. The planner below outlines the topics and the sequence for this year’s curriculum

Below  are  downloadable electronic versions of  some year 12 textbooks:

• The "Theta Mathematics" textbook  covers the  ALGEBRA, PROBABILTY and CALCULUS externals and is a good textbook  for most of the 12MSC course. 

• The "Theta Dimensions" covers TRIGONOMETRY, NETWORKS & SIMULATIONS. It is more useful for the 12MAT course.

• Notes and exercises for the Probability external can be found in both.

• In 12MAT we do the Co-ordiante Geometry internal. This is covered in in the Theta Mathematics book.

• The workbook and textbook cover the same topics. The workbook is designed for homework and has less  notes and examples
