Description:
Scholarships are available to residents of Alberta and are intended to assist any person who has been away from formal education and wishes to further their education and/or any student who is continuing their education.
Scholarships are available for full-time or part-time study at all recognized institutions; high school, post-secondary, apprenticeship, and may be applied toward re-training or job upgrading programs.
Applicants will be selected on the basis of maturity, leadership, and citizenship qualities with preference given to those who demonstrate financial need.

Any person who is a resident of Alberta is eligible.
Two types of scholarships will be offered. The selection committee can choose both types and/or one of the two:
Any person away from formal education and who desires to further their education (no minimum/maximum age). This could be for re-training, upgrading of work skills, or change of employment.
Any individual continuing their education (post-secondary, trade school, etc.).
Scholarship(s) are awarded annually: 1 (one) to 5 (five) scholarships will be awarded with a range from $600.00 to $2,000.00.
Preference will be given to individuals who demonstrate financial need.
Candidates must have applied to an institution and be accepted and commence courses no later than January 30th in the year following granting of the scholarship.
Successful candidates will be required to show evidence of enrollment.
Applicants must complete an application form and provide three letters of reference. Applicants must also include a cover letter stating why they are applying for the scholarship and why he/she has selected their course of study.

Students must be graduating from an Alberta high school
Students must be entering their first year in an undergraduate applied science or science education program at an Alberta-based post-secondary institution
Applicants need to submit a 500-700 word essay, 3 letters of recommendation, high school transcripts, and a notification letter of acceptance into a STEM-based program from a post-secondary institution

Description:
The ASAA invites scholarship nominations for students currently registered in ASAA member high schools who are planning to graduate in June and attend post-secondary education in September. The award is for students who milk every moment, achieving a balance in school, home, and community life.
Each ASAA member school can nominate one male and one female for this scholarship.
Criteria:
Be a grade 12 student registered in an ASAA member school and an Alberta resident
Participate in athletic activities. This can be active participation in school intramurals throughout the year, being a member of a school sports team, or participation in an activity that is not a school sport, such as dance, ballet, water polo, fencing, hockey, karate, etc. Please note that priority will be given to those student-athletes who have participated in an ASAA-sanctioned sport.
Show personal development and involvement in activities other than athletics and academics. For example, community work, hobbies, clubs, youth programs, leadership, etc.
Plan to attend a post-secondary educational facility in Canada.
Write a 250-500 word essay exploring what sports, healthy eating, and refueling your body mean to you (see the application page for more details)
Completed application form (signed by school administrator identifying you as the nominee from school), resume, and 2 letters of reference.

Description:
open to all Alberta rural youth and is designed to help rural farm youth who must leave home to pursue post-secondary education or trade.
Please note a rural farm youth is defined as a youth who has lived on a farm in Alberta for the majority of their life and the farm is the primary source of family income. These scholarships are designed for youth who may not have the opportunity to attend post-secondary without financial support.
Criteria:
Must be enrolled as a first-year student at an acknowledged post-secondary institution and not have previously started or completed a post-secondary program
Must be an Alberta rural farm young person
Must have graduated from high school and received their high school diploma and be no older than 25 years of age. A copy of their high school transcript or detailed academic report must be included with the application form
Must need to leave home to pursue post-secondary education or trade. Proof must be provided that the student is not living at home, i.e. through a rental or dorm receipt
A photo of the applicant must be submitted with the application. The photo must be suitable for publication - a grad picture is ideal. Photocopies or proofs are not suitable. Quality scanned photos are acceptable
4-H experience is NOT mandatory to qualify for this award

Description:
Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmers Program is proud to introduce the OYF Memorial Scholarship, to be awarded annually to two individuals pursuing post-secondary education in agriculture. This scholarship is possible through the foresight of alumnus Martin Streef (Ontario 1996). Martin’s dedication to agriculture and the OYF program will help future generations pursue their passion for agriculture.

Description:
The Charles Labatiuk Scholarship Award was established through the legacy gift of Charles Labatiuk and the Charles Labatiuk Nature Endowment Fund. Charles Labatiuk was an avid nature conservationist, mountaineer, and world traveler who enjoyed and excelled as a photographer, writer, gardener, and pianist. These awards were introduced to honour his life and his passion for nature.
Criteria:
Any student entering or continuing their studies at an accredited college or university in Canada in the interdisciplinary study of natural environmental systems may apply. Students enrolled in studies focusing on ecosystems, how they operate, and their symbiotic relationship with people are encouraged to apply.
Applicants will be required to submit a maximum 1000-word essay reflecting on why nature conservation is important to you and the world, how you want to contribute to conservation, and how your studies will help you achieve your goals. Criteria for scoring the essay is available on the link below.

The Johnathan Doody Memorial Scholarship is preferred for emerging, first-year male University of Alberta students. There are seven $1000 scholarships available for the students who apply. The scholarship is preferred for students who have a strong commitment to academics, volunteering, and extracurricular involvement. Johnathan Doody was an exceptional athlete, an inspiring student leader, a loving friend, and a talented scholar. Johnathan came to the University of Alberta to study engineering. In October of 1993, Johnathan was tragically killed in an automotive accident outside of his hometown. The scholarship is in honour of the excellence of Johnathan Doody and seeks to reward scholars who have demonstrated similar qualities in their time as high school students.
