Lynn McFarlane Scholarship - May 31

Lynne McFarlane was born in 1966 in Cold Lake, Alberta and was diagnosed with Down Syndrome at birth. She attended a segregated school during her early education, integrating into a local elementary school. She attended an inclusive junior and senior high school. She was one of the first students with developmental disabilities to graduate from Cold Lake High School. Lynn explored employment in a variety of locations including Cold Lake Value Drug Mart - Tri-City Value Drug Mart. When Bob Mattice bought the business Lynn remained an employee and continued to work with Bob for 30 years as a valued employee. When she retired in 2018, the Lynn McFarlane Scholarship was initiated to inspire students, with those with exceptionalities or those choosing careers supporting persons with disabilities, to pursue post-secondary education.
Criteria:
Students must be a resident of the Cold Lake area, graduating from high school in the current year.
Accepted into a disability studies program for the fall OR be a student with a disability accepted into a post-secondary program for the fall.

Cold Lake Medical Development Fund Society Healthcare Education Grant - May

Description:
Residents of Cold Lake & area who are pursuing Full Time Healthcare studies in an accredited institution may apply. Award amounts: $500 (1st-year student), $750 (2nd-year student), and $1000 (3rd-year student). Preference will be given, but not limited, to individuals who have previously been in Cold Lake Healthcare employment and intend to return to work in Cold Lake Healthcare. Must submit a letter of reference and confirmation of enrollment.

Description:
The Merit Contractors Association is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to promoting the trades in Alberta. Each year, they offer a $300 award to a student that demonstrates exceptional skill and appreciation in the areas of woodworking, metal-working, or other industrial arts. Cold Lake High School’s Industrial Education teacher selects a grade 12 student who has demonstrated competence in these areas throughout their high school years.

Excels in the areas of woodworking, metalworking, other industrial arts.

The Medley CFB Society CWO Peter Stauffer Memorial Scholarship was created in 2005 to recognize and encourage students entering Post-Secondary Education with the awarding of individual $1,000.00 Scholarships per academic year to qualified applicants. That award has since increased to $2,500.00.
Criteria:
Be a student of a High School in the City of Cold Lake, Town of Bonnyville, MD of Bonnyville, or RM of Beaver River;
Be dependents of members presently serving at 4 Wing Cold Lake in the Canadian Forces (Regular or Reserve) or as DND or NPF employees;
Have achieved a consistent academic standing in their Grade 12 (current) year of schooling;
