!!!Interim grade reports were handed out today!!!

This week, we will continue our journey through the novel Holes by Louis Sachar. We will read chapters 21-26. This section of the novel will focus on comprehension, vocabulary, critical thinking, and fluency. Students will complete an Edpuzzle, a critical thinking questions discussion group, and a Reader’s Theater as activities to support our reading.

Just a reminder, students and parents have access to grades through HAC, Home Access Center at all times. In case of an absence from class, it is the student's responsibility to inquire about what they missed. Once they return to school, they are expected to complete any pending assignments promptly. Assignments are also available on Google Classroom, so students can access them outside of class.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me at any time at cameronj@nlrsd.org.

We will be working on learning more sight words, saying them aloud in English and matching them with pictures to help in English language development for the students that have recently arrived in the country.

Other students will continue to work on comparing/contrasting, making a claim, and writing a paragraph to defend the claim. The claim is an opinion about what we are comparing and contrasting. We will also continue to study sentence structure.

A note about teaming: Our students are teamed with their four core subjects, English, Math, Science, and Social Studies, whenever possible.  Teams allow us to create a school within a school environment for our students, making our large campus feel smaller. Reading and electives are cross teamed to allow us to meet the vast needs of our students, as well as to allow more social interactions with other students.  All of our core departments work closely together to ensure students receive quality instruction regardless of their team.
