EARLY GRADUATION POLICY AND GUIDELINES
District Policy states:
Early graduation can be earned provided that:
1. The student presents in writing an early graduation program no later than the end of the sophomore year;
2. A review committee (made up of two staff members who know the student, a counselor and administrator) will be established to determine if the request represents mature and reasonable judgment;
3. The parents and principal agree that early graduation would be in the best interest of the student.
Should early graduation be granted, the student will be allowed to take either college courses or an independent study course together with the regular course load to complete requirements for graduation. The college course or independent study course must be approved by the committee.
Graduation Requirements:
1. Credits as required for your cohort class.
2. Meeting of essential skills benchmarks and extended application as required by the state for your cohort class.
Early Graduation Request Procedures:

Costs incurred outside of the normally provided school schedule and practices will be the responsibility of the student.

2. Fifth-year students may petition to take courses through a community college or four-year college and upon satisfactory completion, may be granted a diploma.
a. All such courses must have prior approval of the review committee composed of the counselor and staff member teaching in the subject area.
b. Students under 18 years of age must have approval of their parent/guardian and the principal.
c. Students over 18 years of age must have approval of the principal.
d. All credits earned must be received by the principal before May 15 of that 5th year.
