The school year is divided into two semesters and each semester is divided into two quarters. Major events during the year include:
Orientation: At the beginning of the academic year, there will be a parent and student orientation. During this orientation, students and parents will receive important information about the academic year. This will include the students schedule, Powerschool access information (the online gradebook), emergency contact forms, course outlines and expectations, etc.
National Holidays: These are important public holidays in the Thai calendar. Please note that the school may not observe all calendared National Holidays.
School Holidays: School holidays are an opportunity for the student body and faculty to rest and recuperate at the end of a rigorous quarter/semester of learning. Please note that parents are encouraged to refrain from taking holidays outside of the scheduled holidays.
MAP Testing: Middle students at NIS do the MAP Test in Reading, Mathematics, Language, and Science three times a year. MAP stands for Measure of Academic Progress and is used to assess the student's academic growth and proficiency. For more information about MAP please click here.
Parent-Teacher Conferences: At the end of quarter 1 and quarter 3, NIS holds parent-teacher conferences. The purpose of these conferences is for the teacher and parents to discuss a student's progress and identify ways in which to support a their academic and social-emotional development.
