The main goal of this course is to increase interest in science and learning while developing the necessary skills to be able to succeed in a middle school classroom environment and beyond. This course will begin with an introduction to science, its goals and limitations, and will culminate with the students being able to design and perform their own experiments! In Grade 6 we plan on covering selected content areas in Life Science, Physical Science, and Earth Science.
Students will study the history that shaped planet Earth.
Students will study the processes that allowed life to originate, grow and flourish.
There are connections between the Earth and the Earth’s life that will be studied in detail by students.
Students will learn how energy behaves with matter.
Students will study methods and consequences of human energy production.
Students will try to understand the nature of energy.
Students will study and try to find solutions to our most critical problem: climate change.
Students will study natural dangers and how to fix them.
Students will heavily work in lab to understand these systems.
Students will understand how human energy production is not perfect.
Students will understand the basic principals of human impact globally.
Students will learn to think about large-scale environmental problems and how to create solutions.
