In this course, the students will learn about composition through the elements of color, shape, form, line, value, and texture. They will also learn about and Principles of Design by developing an understanding of balance and emphasis, contrast, repetition, proportion, and scale. They will apply their understanding of composition and design through the development of drawing, painting, and sculptural techniques. The students will also learn about famous artists and their different styles and periods.

Students will learn about negative and positive spaces by doing a Japanese "Notan" collage.

Students will create a still life in the style of Pop Art.
Students will create a sculpture from clay.
Students will create a perspective animals landscape painting.
Students will create an end-of-year project using personal interpretations.
