In this course, students explore composition through the elements of color, shape, form, line, value, and texture. They also study the Principles of Design, developing an understanding of balance, emphasis, contrast, repetition, proportion, and scale. Students apply these concepts by practicing drawing, painting, and sculptural techniques. In addition, they learn about famous artists, exploring a variety of styles and historical periods to inspire their own creative work.
