Linking data around citizens and communities improves our understanding of our local system and population, and in turn our ability to plan, monitor and evaluate services and interventions.
The One Devon Dataset, which links GP, secondary care, community health, mental health, social care and wider population data, is Devon’s linked dataset and was established in 2020. Applications of linked data also take us away from looking at health and care services in isolation, and into areas including community development, housing, social and economic development, wider public services, and research.
Simon provides an overview and shares the experience of establishing linked data in Devon, highlighting some of the challenges, applications, and benefits of linked data.
