Primary & Community Care Research Forum

The Primary and Community Care Research Forum was held on the 7th of June 2023 in Southend-on-Sea. We had healthcare professionals, practice managers and research admins attend from experienced and research-naive GP practices, as well as colleagues from the ICB, the CRN, and the community. It was amazing to finally see so many of our external colleagues face-to-face after a long period of remote working.

The theme of the research forum was 'Past, Present & Future" to highlight how far we have come as a team and the great changes we have recently implemented and are planning to implement addressing those barriers to participating in research we have been hearing from you. We have also had study teams present results of past studies, current opportunities and studies in set-up with opportunities to sign up in the near future.

Attendees have immensely enjoyed practical advice from our experienced GP practices, which included top tips from a practice manager, from one of our GP research champions and from our speciality lead. New practices have found their advice and tips on how to become and remain research active invaluable and made them realise that being part of research is not as complicated and time-consuming as they have initially thought!

We have received amazing feedback and due to great interest in future engagement events we are hoping to repeat this on at least a yearly basis. We are planning to hold events in different locations across the LEH geography to give everyone a chance to attend.
