Care Research

Who We Are

We are the Luton, Essex and Herts Valley (LEH) Primary and Community Care Research Team and we are part of the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) North Thames Clinical Research Network (CRN). The LEH geography spans over 3 ICBs: Mid and South Essex (MSE), Herts and West Essex (HWE), and Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes (BLMK) ICBs.

We are responsible for setting up and delivering clinical research studies in general practice and the community. Our ambition is to provide the opportunity for the public to be part of research and to increase the health and well-being of our service-users as much as possible. We work together with GPs, nurses, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to increase research activity across the LEH geography. Apart from GP practices, this includes non-NHS settings, such as care homes, hospices and schools in the hope of reaching more isolated and underserved communities who may not have had the chance to be part of research previously.

We aim to support and encourage as many practices and community organisations as possible to take part in research. We will meet with you and support you with research as and when needed. This could be teaching your staff to carry out a database search for a study or it could be our nurses or practitioners coming to your practice to see patients for a research clinic.
