Commercial Capabilities

SPECIALIST SERVICES

• The West Midlands has a dedicated group of research active practices that are highly experienced in running commercially sponsored studies at their sites

• Research Delivery Groups - CRN funding provided to practices designed to invest in the PC infrastructure with a view to deliver more research in a group setting

• CRN support for R&D, Site Identification/Intelligence, proactive recruitment monitoring throughout the life cycle of the study, access to a network of commercially active Primary Care sites willing to deliver studies as well as support recruitment via PIC sites

SPECIALIST FACILITIES

• Each Primary care site has individual facility capabilities

• All are able to operate successfully as either PIC sites (using mail shot, displaying posters, in the waiting room opportunistic recruitment within consultation) or as full research sites

• At the CRN West Midlands we host the Recruitment Optimisation Support Team (ROST) which exists to meet the health informatics requirements of studies recruiting patients in the West Midlands area. ROST develops health informatics tools for the purpose of identifying patients for research studies, consistent with the ACORD costing guidelines and the requirements of study protocols. In addition, ROST also develops internal tools to aid the CRN during recruitment, such as templates for use with GP clinical systems for data collection purposes during research appointments and clinics

CHIEF INVESTIGATOR/PRINCIPAL  INVESTIGATOR EXPERTISE

• The CRN West Midlands Clinical Research Specialty Lead for Primary Care is Dr David Shukla and Specialty Research Lead is Dr Mark Stone. Both are highly experienced and enthusiastic CI's/PI's , as well as GP's themselves, who deliver both academic and commercial research

AREAS KEEN TO GROW

• We are keen to increase the Primary care participation in all speciality areas, increasing number of Commercial studies that our Primary Care sites participate in

• We are always looking for potential routes to collaborate with Commercial sponsors and with Secondary care site to offer wider research opportunities to our patient population
