• Pharmacy Clinical Trials team fully embedded in R&D

• The Trust is part of Midlands Orthopaedic Centre, which has an active research portfolio at the Trust 

• We host a GCLP Accredited laboratory in R&D, acredited every 2 years

SPECIALIST FACILITIES

• The Specialist Vascular Centre for the Black Country covering Dudley, Walsall and Wolverhampton 

• A dedicated clinical research bay area where participants can receive treatment as per study protocols

• Our Diabetes research team work closely with podiatry, maternity and cardiology to deliver studies

• We also have anaesthetists that participate in trials, specialising in device and CTIMP studies

• Dedicated pharmacy fridge and temperature controlled medication storage within R&D

• 3 new Labcold Upright –86°C freezers with a continuous temperature monitoring system in place that is alarm monitored 24/7. All laboratory staff are IATA certified 

• Tecan Sunrise - a versatile, reliable microplate absorbance reader providing all the functionality needed for the numerous ELISA applications in research

• We offer a wide variety of routine  Biochemistry, Haematology  and  immunological tests for research purposes at competititive prices

• 2 Eppendorf centrifuges available for routine/refrigerated separations

• Beckman Optima Max XP Ultracentrifuge capable of 150,000 RPM

• QuickGene-810 - a compact automated benchtop extractor for rapid isolation of DNA/RNA from a variety of samples including plant, tissues and human whole blood

• LighCycler 480 system - a highly adaptable and versatile real-time PCR system for gene expression and genetic variation analysis

• Gene scanning software  for high resolution melting enables us to rapidly and efficiently discover genetic variations 

• Automated Invitrogen Benchpro 4100 and Iblot system in place
