Our Research Treatment Centre and Inpatient Research Unit provides the dedicated facilities, support and expertise required to conduct high quality early phase clinical research
The Inpatient Research Unit includes two inpatient beds, en-suite bathroom facilities and a nurse station and is designed to accommodate early phase interventional studies and high-intensity or high-complexity elements of later phase studies
The Research Treatment Centre includes a treatment area for outpatients or day patients comprising six treatment chairs, a participant toilet and nurse station. The Centre has a welcoming participant reception and waiting area, a drug storage and preparation area, as well as a centrifuge room, all with continuous temperature monitoring
Our dedicated CRF staff are experienced in delivering experimental treatments for research participants and hold appropriate life support qualifications

WISDEM Centre
WISDEM provides quality care for patients with diabetes, endocrine and other metabolic conditions, as well as actively engaging in cutting-edge research, encompassing clinical studies in diabetes and metabolism. Our team, led by Professor Harpal Randeva, comprises over 30 dedicated researchers and clinicians. Professor Randeva has been involved in over 40 research projects as a Principal Investigator, spanning from Phase I to Phase III. Additionally, he has served as the Chief Investigator for three studies.
Our research team has conducted studies in various areas, including diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular or chronic kidney disease, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, polycystic ovary syndrome, acromegaly, growth hormone deficiency, neuroendocrine tumours, male hypogonadism, adrenal insufficiency, and diabetic foot ulcers.
Moreover, we have consistently surpassed our recruitment targets for most of our studies, positioning us as top recruiters in the United Kingdom. Our exceptional track record in recruitment has gained recognition, as we have been invited to share our experience in recruitment and retention at various meetings.

The Trust hosts the Coventry and Warwickshire Clinical Research Facility (CRF) which provides the dedicated facilities, support and expertise required to conduct high quality clinical research.
Located in University Hospital Coventry, on the 3rd floor of the West Wing (opposite wards 34 and 35), the CRF comprises the Research Treatment Centre and Inpatient Research Unit. The CRF has a welcoming participant reception and waiting area, a drug storage and preparation area and a centrifuge room, all with continuous temperature monitoring.
