Brief-
To design and develop standardized sizing framework for Women's Leather Footwear (Aged 21-30), with a focus on NID college, to improve footwear comfort and fit.
Data collection process for understanding foot dimensions and footwear sizing preferences among a sample group. The study involves 25 girls aged 21-30, selected from different states across India, including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Punjab, and Gujarat. The parameters for data collection include measuring foot dimensions in both standing and sitting positions, identifying the current footwear size used (according to UK and US sizing systems), and conducting manual foot scanning for both the left and right feet. This approach aims to gather comprehensive data on foot sizes and shape variations to inform better footwear design and sizing standards.
Foot Length: The distance from the back of the heel to the tip of the longest toe. This is a primary measurement for determining shoe size.
Bi-Malleolar Breadth: The width between the two ankle bones (malleoli), which affects the fit around the ankle.
Heel Breadth: The width across the back of the foot at the heel, crucial for designing the heel area of footwear.
Foot Breadth: The overall width of the foot, generally measured at the widest part, usually across the ball of the foot.
Big Toe Breadth: The width of the big toe, which can influence the design of the toe box area.
Foot Depth at Base, Middle, and Metatarsal: These measurements determine the vertical thickness of the foot at different points, which are important for understanding the volume and shape of the foot.
Around Ankle: The circumference around the ankle, affecting the fit of footwear that extends above the foot.
Around Heel & Under Foot: The combined circumference around the heel and under the foot, which helps in designing supportive features in the heel area.
Overall Size from Under the Foot: A holistic measurement that combines length, width, and depth to provide a complete size profile of the foot.
personal information like the individual's name, age, state, current footwear size, height, and weight is recorded. This data collection process aims to create a comprehensive profile that supports the development of well-fitting footwear by considering all key foot dimensions and personal attributes.
