Northeast Iowa Community College empowers instructors to utilize and develop OER for their courses. Alongside the success of our Z-Degree offerings, faculty have since begun to work together to pursue common course resources and assessments in the development of course blueprints. DIID’s Quality Course Design Standards emphasize ease of learner access and support greater student success through the encouragement of OER.
The College continues to realize the value of OER to improve equity, keep content relevant and high-quality, and lower the cost of college attendance. NICC continues to encourage programs and faculty to shift to OER course materials (texts) and e-learning tools.
View our OER page for much more information on this topic.
The NICC libraries support instructors by helping identify and access academic materials that meet accessibility standards. The library provides guidance for copyright and fair use, citation support, access to academic databases, and can help your students learn the research process.
DIID recommends instructors leverage the library to assist with their course materials selection process, and enlist library staff to assist with the creation of lib guides and resource tours for students. Visit the NICC Library page to find their contact information.
