Artificial Intelligence
What is Artificial Intelligence?
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a general term used to describe computer systems that are able to perform tasks that typically require human intelligence. Recently, AI has been making headlines in the world of education because a new, powerful form of AI has become available to the masses to use for free.
AI Chatbots
ChatGPT is the first easily-accessible open-source AI chatbot. Released in late 2022, this AI can respond to almost any prompt you ask, and what's more, you can keep asking it to refine the results until you get what you want from it. This tool comes with unlimited possibilities, but also brings academic integrity concerns to the forefront of teaching and learning.
New! ChatGPT 4
ChatGPT now has version 4, a paid subscription version that is able to connect to the Internet. Unlike the free, original version, GPT4 can access information more recent than 2021. It also provides more accurate responses. Additionally, there are plugins available that allow GPT4 to read and summarize PDF documents, specific web links, and more. New updates are being released often. Check here for the latest ChatGPT information.
Here are just a few of the things ChatGPT can do:
Generate conversational responses to discussion questions
Produce essays with in-text citations and sources listed in style of your choice
Answer complex math problems and show its steps along the way
Write math equations, create HTML code, and generate creative works (storytelling, poetry, etc.)
Provide concise answers to quiz questions on almost any subject
Other Types of AI
In addition to chatbots, AI is rapidly expanding to include other tools. Here's just a sampling of some of the other things AI can do:
Generate images based on a text prompt.
Create slide show presentations from a simple text prompt.
Generate an AI voice to narrate presentations using a provided script.
Analyze data on spreadsheets.
Summarize documents.
Create meeting minutes.
