McMichael Middle School
Plans at McMichael Middle School will expand the campus, adding additional classrooms on the north and east sides of the facility, ultimately allowing NISD to combine its middle school operations at one location. Once the McMichael expansion is completed, sometime in 2022, all middle school students in the district would attend one campus. That would allow the district to convert Mike Moses Middle School, located on Park Street, into an elementary campus.

The expansion of McMichael Middle School is progressing and will be completed later this spring. The expansion will allow for all middle school students in Nacogdoches to attend the campus beginning with the 2022-23 academic year.

New classroom wings at McMichael Middle School are taking shape in the latest construction site update. Drywall is up in many of the classrooms and hallways. On the exterior, masons have bricked significant portions of the outside walls on the new wings.

Classroom wings have now taken shape on the additions at McMichael Middle School. Exterior work is underway on new classroom areas on the east side of the building, and exterior brick is going on those extensions. The large wing of new classrooms, located along the north side of the campus, is up and steel frame is being installed inside. Once complete, McMichael will house all middle school students in Nacogdoches ISD. Combining McMichael and Mike Moses Middle Schools won't happen until sometime in 2022.

A large cement pour took place last month on the expansion project at McMichael Middle School. Now, steel is going up for the new wing of classrooms located on the north end of the campus. Work continues to progress on expansion of existing classroom wings along the north side of the campus.

More cement was poured at McMichael Middle School, including a pour that took place early today. On the backside of the campus, where two wings are being extended, steel has gone up.

More cement was poured at McMichael Middle School, where the campus is being expanded. Slabs were connected to the existing foundation on the backside of the campus where two wings are being extended. Once complete, all middle school students in Nacogdoches ISD will attend the McMichael campus.

On Wednesday, Sept. 2, crews were installing rebar ahead of pouring forms in the coming days. Progress has been made on the electrical and plumbing installation for the new wing of classrooms located on the north side of the campus.

More work was ongoing at McMichael Middle School where electrical conduit and plumbing pipe is beginning to extend out of the dirt where the foundation will be located for the new wing of classrooms. Once complete, McMichael will serve as the middle school for all NISD students while the existing Mike Moses campus will be converted to serve elementary students.

Pads are complete for the foundation of a new wing along the north side of McMichael Middle School as well as for other new construction at the campus located on SE Stallings Drive. On Wednesday, June 17, crews were setting the corners of the new additions to the campus.
Once complete, the increased capacity at McMichael will allow NISD to combine its two middle schools into one campus. At that time, Mike Moses Middle School located on Park Street will be converted to an elementary campus.
All projects are funded by a $77.9 million bond approved by NISD voters in 2018.

Work is underway on the expansion of McMichael Middle School, part of the 2018 Nacogdoches ISD bond package. Dirt work has started on a new wing that will be added on to the north side of the building. Once complete, all middle school students will attend class at the McMichael campus while Mike Moses Middle School will be converted to an elementary school.
