Trustees ok construction bid on fredonia redo

February 18, 2022

NISD's Board of Trustees approved a bid from TCMC Commercial on Feb. 17 for $3.15 million and a total project cost of $3.86 million for the Fredonia Pre-K renovation project. The project is funded by the bond package approved by NISD voters in November 2018.

The district had opened bids on the project – that will convert Fredonia from an elementary campus to an early childhood center for Pre-K students – on Jan. 27, 2022. Work is scheduled to begin on the conversion once classes let out this spring and will take around a year to complete.

Expanded drive, loop constructed at Fredonia

July 15, 2021

Fredonia Elementary: $3,562,325 would be used to convert the campus into a Pre-K center. Construction would include minor interior renovations, improvements to existing parking and construction of an “auto-drop loop” around the existing site that would allow cars to queue up for drop-off in the morning and pick-up in the afternoon. The estimate also includes demolition of the existing gym.

A bid for construction funded by a 2018 bond election was accepted Jan. 21 by Nacogdoches ISD trustees.

Trustees unanimously approved spending $619,154.65 of bond funds to build a new drop-off/pick-up driveway around Fredonia Elementary. The work will include preparation of the site, cement pour and cleanup. The bid was awarded to Drewery & Wheaton LLC.

The new driveway at Fredonia Elementary is the first step towards transforming the campus to an early childhood center that will house the district’s Pre-K program under one roof. Work on this project will take place this summer.
